Define the brief
Swimming, relaxing, family use and a rental villa call for different layouts. Write down your preferences for depth, steps, shallow areas and the swimming season. Discuss safe access and a way to secure the pool when it is not in use.
Look at the whole site
A site visit needs more than pool length and width. Check the slope, ground conditions, existing structures, machinery access, storage space and route for removing excavated soil. Plan rainwater drainage and equipment service discharge before excavation begins.
Leave room for the equipment
The pump, filter, valves and treatment system must remain accessible. Choose the plant location together with the pipe and electrical routes. Allow room to remove components, operate valves and protect the space from water. An awkward access hatch makes routine maintenance unnecessarily difficult.
What to agree before work starts
- An agreed layout for the shell, steps, coping and surrounding terrace.
- Equipment specification and positions of all built-in fittings.
- A clear scope: what is included, what remains provisional and who handles each stage.
