Salt electrolysis and UV: what each system does

Filtration, disinfection and pH control do different jobs. Extra equipment should fit the complete treatment system.

Filtration and disinfection work together

A filter removes particles but does not provide complete disinfection by itself. Water in the pool still needs an appropriate disinfectant regime and pH control. Automation helps maintain that regime; it does not remove the need for testing or maintenance.

Salt electrolysis

A salt chlorinator produces active chlorine from dissolved salt. A saltwater pool therefore is not a chlorine-free pool. Size the unit for the pool’s demands and follow the specific manufacturer’s instructions for salinity, material compatibility and operating conditions. pH control can be separate or integrated.

Ultraviolet treatment

A UV unit treats water passing through its chamber. It does not leave a lasting disinfectant throughout the pool, so it supplements the main disinfection regime. Check actual flow through the unit, water conditions and lamp replacement access as well as pool volume.

What belongs in the estimate

Compare the complete package: equipment, sensors, consumables, installation, commissioning and ongoing care. The preliminary calculator selects a capacity band from pool volume; final sizing follows a review of the circulation layout.
